At the state parliament session on Wednesday, a decision will be made on how to deal with the multi-billion dollar corona protection fund. Another important topic is the possible hunting of wolves.
Three opposition factions have submitted motions for the Wednesday session on the wolf, all of which are pursuing the same overarching goal: the wolf should be included in the hunting law – the stocks have long since recovered. In this way, one wants to prevent conflicts between the predator and humans and livestock. The CDU, FDP and AfD each have their own proposals for this, and they agree on the demand for stock limits. The AfD is in favor of fixed protection areas, outside of which the wolf should be able to be hunted.
Corona protection fund misused?
In a special report, the State Audit Office complained that the Corona Protection Fund paid for projects that were not directly related to the pandemic. For this reason, the state parliament will again debate the protection fund on Wednesday. The state had set up the special fund of over 2.85 billion euros in 2020 to cushion the consequences of the corona pandemic. It will run until 2024. On Monday Finance Minister Heiko Geue (SPD) announced that he wanted to pay off the country’s debts with 500 million from the remaining assets. The FDP, on the other hand, demands in an application that the fund be wound up quickly.
Other topics: energy aid and major fire in Alt Tellin
The CDU parliamentary group puts renewed pressure on energy aid for oil or wood pellet heating on Wednesday. Because the federal government is not making any progress with its program, the state has to set up its own aid. In a current hour, the Greens recall the fire in the pig breeding facility in Alt Tellin two years ago. Around 55,000 animals died in the process. The opposition faction believes that the country has not done anything to prevent comparable fires. The safety of farm animals from fire disasters should therefore also be discussed in the meeting on Wednesday.
