Only with the votes of the ND was the bill passed for the new scandalous changes in the declarations of whereabouts, which go hand in hand – if not directly related – to the flawed declarations of the prime minister’s financial situation.
As Documento pointed out, the changes that are now the law of the land in relation to how-tos are as follows:
1. Destruction of all critical data relating to asset declarations after five years instead of the previous 15. That is, the Anti-Money Laundering Authority will not be able to obtain information from banking institutions to check someone who forgot – for example – to declare a company behind which Voltaire’s house is hidden.
2. Temporal reduction of the obligation to submit a declaration of whereabouts by former government officials, prosecutors and political leaders after the end of their term of office to just one year from the current three.
3. Examining the income declared on the last day of the year in a bank account, which also caused the Authority’s reaction against money laundering, as it considers this to be another “opportunity to cover up”.
Storm of reactions
The provisions provoked strong reactions from the opposition parties, a fact that was also reflected in the relevant vote on the bill. Both the rapporteur of the official opposition, Alexandros Avlonitis, and the special buyers of the other minority parties opposed the aforementioned forecasts.
“Some are surrounded by a safety net”
Speaking yesterday in the Plenary, Mr. Famellos wondered what has changed in a year and the government is introducing new regulation for the declarations of where you are from. “The bill in its second part with the arrangements for the wherewithal comes to amend your own law of 2023, what has changed in one year? - Changes to the recording of loan obligations and their evolution, not only their loan debts, but also the supporting documents for the facilities, arrangements, cancellations, installments of their loan.
- Cash over 5,000 euros should be included in the assets that must be declared.
- The obligation of the parties to post the balance sheets as well as the finalization of the payment, which contains the exact amount paid for each individual expense, in DIAYGEIA.
- Transitional provision so that the obligees submit a supplementary declaration based on the new framework we propose and upload the supporting documents concerning all the years from the acquisition of the status related to their obligation and beyond.
Lie Floridis
It is worth noting that the Minister of Justice, G. Floridis, was arrested for lying when he denied what Kyriakos Velopoulos complained about the possibility of not controlling the movable property of the debtors.
