The 40th edition of Parkpop, one of the largest free festivals in Europe, is canceled this year. The organization believes the situation regarding the corona virus is too uncertain and has decided to postpone the event to the summer of 2022.
The next edition was to take place on June 13 at the Malieveld. The festival was organized in the Zuiderpark in The Hague for many years. The new date will be announced at a later date.
“We have done everything we can to create a situation to allow Parkpop to continue in 2021,” said director Guus Dutrieux. “After a long search, moving to a later time this year turns out not to be feasible. Unfortunately, we now really have to conclude that an edition in 2021 is not realistic.”
Also in 2020, the event had to be canceled due to the corona crisis. Because the festival is free of charge, the organization cannot appeal to the government guarantee fund in the event of a cancellation. Partly for this reason, the organization has decided not to have the festival take place in 2021.
