Parket Halle-Vilvoorde drags 160 travelers with fake PC…

About 160 people who presented a false certificate of a negative PCR test at Brussels Airport in recent months when they wanted to leave on a trip will have to answer to the court in the coming weeks. At least 820 people were caught at the airport using a false test result.

This is reported by the Halle-Vilvoorde public prosecutor’s office, which organizes eight thematic sessions. In recent weeks, several other travelers who had attempted the same have already been handed sentences of up to 6 months in prison and a fine of 1,200 euros.

Traveling abroad has been possible again since April 19, but on return the traveler must fill in a Passenger Localization Form (PLF), and a certificate of a negative PCR test is often required on departure. To curb abuse, the College of Attorneys General has issued guidelines on prosecuting those who falsify such PLFs or attestations on covid testing. Persons who create or use such false documents can immediately be summoned before the criminal court. Public prosecutors can choose to first propose an amicable settlement of 750 euros. The latter is what the Halle-Vilvoorde public prosecutor has decided to do for people traveling via Brussels Airport.

The first such theme session will take place on Tuesday, at which about 20 people must immediately appear.
