– The mobile phone digital forensic investigation was completed in about five months to confirm the death of the late Mayor Park Won-soon.
According to the police on the 23rd, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency completed the mobile phone forensic work of Mayor Park, which resumed on the 17th. The forensic work was conducted under the observation of former Mayor Park’s survivors and representatives from the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
This mobile phone, which has completed the forensic work this time, is a commodity found with the body of Mayor Park, and is an iPhone XS model, a commercial mobile phone.
In July, the police launched a forensic process, such as canceling the mobile phone password, and even proceeded with the’imaging’ (copy) work to move the entire information so as not to damage it.
However, the investigation was stopped after a week or so as the bereaved side filed a quasi-appeal requesting the court to stop forensics.
Then, after the Seoul Northern District Law reviewed for more than four months, the quasi-appeal was dismissed on the 9th of this month and resumed after five months.
However, it is reported that the data secured by the police through this forensic is limited to revealing the history of Mayor Park’s death, such as Kakao Talk and text messages exchanged right before his death. The period was also limited to those close to the time of death, which is the standard approved by the court.
In this forensic work, it is said that it was difficult to confirm the suspicions that mayor Park’s sexual harassment was aided by officials in the secretary office. The court applied for a seizure and search warrant twice in order to use mobile phone forensic data in relation to the suspicion of sexual harassment and neglect of Mayor Park Jeon Park’s sexual assault by the police requested by the police, but the court dismissed all of them.
