Park Myung-soo, a member of the group ‘Key Voice’ who sang ‘Let’s Go to the Beach’, a popular song in the 1970s, was reported to have died in the United States on the 5th (local time). He died at the age of 81.
On the 6th, popular music critic Park Seong-seo, who was a member of Key Voice, announced on his Facebook page, “Park Myung-soo, the key voice of ‘Let’s Go to the Beach’ and ‘Beach Memories,’ has passed away.” Critic Park said, “He started his career on the stage of the 8th U.S. Army Show and led youth culture through the first generation of Korean rock group sounds such as Babos, Key Voice, and Key Brothers. Unfortunately, he passed away yesterday (5th) in Las Vegas, USA. “May he rest in peace,” he wrote.

The deceased was born in Seoul in 1942. In the 1960s, he formed the group ‘Babos’ with Kim Seon and Lee Jin and began his musical career by performing on stage at the ‘8th US Army Show’, a performance consoling US soldiers stationed in Korea. In 1969, when all of the original Key Voice members withdrew, he formed the ‘2nd Key Voice’ with Jang Young, Jo Young-jo, and others. In May 1969, they received the ‘Best Award’ and ‘Performance Award’ at the 1st Vocal Group Contest.
Key Voice’s 2nd regular album ‘Let’s Go to the Beach’ and ‘Beach Memories’ released in 1970 were very popular with the public. ‘Let’s go to the beach’ was sung by Park Myeong-soo, who mainly played rhythm guitar. Novelist Lee Ho-cheol translated the Japanese song composed by Lee Cheol, a Korean in Japan who was the leader of the Japanese group ‘The Astro Jets’, into Korean.
The deceased moved to the United States in the late 1970s and lived in New York and Las Vegas. It is reported that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer several years ago and was fighting the disease.
