Park Ji-sung “European football youth system will be planted in Jeonbuk”

Park Ji-sung joined the K-League as an advisor to Hyundai Jeonbuk.

Park Ji-sung, a Korean soccer legend, wore a green muffler from Jeonbuk Hyundai, a famous K-League.

He made his professional debut in Japan’s J-League Kyoto, and after the 2002 World Cup, this is the first time Park Ji-sung, who played only in Europe such as Manchester United, entered the K-League.

Ji-Sung Park, who lives in the UK, works part-time and works as an advisor to Jeonbuk remotely.

“(In high school) I thought it would be nice to become a K-League player while playing a ball boy, but I didn’t have a relationship as a player, but I am grateful that the first team going to the K-League is the best club.”

It is hoped that in the long run, the gap between the K-League and Europe would be narrowed by planting a European club system in Jeonbuk that systematically raises players through age-specific youth teams.

“I don’t think that (achievements as a child) can give you a guarantee that you will become a great player by becoming an adult. There is no choice but to nurture players or continue to widen the gap with Europe in this regard…”

With the addition of Park Ji-sung, the stories of the semi-final heroes of the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup in the K-League became richer.
