It is obvious that the overgrown place has not been used for years by pedestrians for safe passage under one of the busiest roads. Lush wildflowers move both in width and height. And while in some parts of the city we want more vegetation, in others it is superfluous and even scary, especially in the dark part of the day.
In fact, in order for this subway to work as such, teams from three municipal enterprises must roll up their sleeves and act in sync – OP “Gardens and Parks” to cut down and remove greenery, OP “Cleanliness” to clean decaying garbage and OP “Disinfection station “to disinfect because the area stinks from a few meters, as it is used for free city toilet.
The municipality of Plovdiv has been thinking about walkways for a long time, but it never invented them, and no matter how much the subways are painted, there are still people who prefer to run through the guardrails of a dangerous boulevard rather than use the underground facilities.
There is another option – perhaps the cheapest – to cover with soil and just no underpass, because practice so far shows that even after efforts to renovate, after a while the “citizens” return the toilet.
