Park concerts in the anniversary grove: Music in Hamborn’s “green lung”

For many people, the anniversary grove in the area of Ziegelhorststrasse, Bayernstrasse and Warbruckstrasse is a place of relaxation, but at the same time a real meeting place. This is where people meet, drink a coffee at the booth and socialize.

There are three old people’s homes and a number of apartments suitable for the elderly in the immediate vicinity. Their residents are often single and like to use the “Jubilee grove communication center at the green Büdchen”. The business operations in Duisburg always ensure flowery experiences in the changing seasons.

The expansion of the anniversary grove as a park took place between 1908 and 1912. At that time, the facilities consisted of a playing field, soccer field and fistball field, a roller skating rink, a rose garden, a concert area and a refreshment hall. The park received its name on the occasion of the government anniversary of Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1913. So next year the 110th anniversary can be celebrated.

Shady cookies
to relax

The historical qualities of the complex could be preserved with the plants that exist today, the rose and perennial garden. At a refreshment hall there are shady places to rest and relax. From here you have a wonderful view of the rose garden. In the anniversary grove there are three playgrounds and a streetball field.

And in the summer months, music has played a major role for many years. Even now, the traditional park concerts are very popular. With the friendly support of the Duisburg-Hamborn Lions Club, the cultural office of the city of Duisburg is again offering nine concerts this year. The concerts start at 11 a.m. on Sundays and admission is always free.
