Parisian heroes gather again in Gyeongnam… National Sports Competition for the Disabled opens on the 25th

The 44th National Sports Festival for the Disabled will be held for six days from the 25th to the 30th in Gyeongnam under the motto, ‘Korea Running Again with Gyeongnam.’

A total of 9,806 athletes (6,166 players, 3,640 executives and officials) from 17 cities and provinces across the country will participate.

It is the largest ever, with an increase of 228 people (105 players, 123 executives and officials) compared to the previous competition.

Two events (Showdown and Shurun), which were demonstration events until last year, have been adopted as official events starting from this competition, and there will be fierce competition in 31 events, the largest number ever.

It is the first time in 13 years since 2011 that the National Sports Festival for the Disabled has been held in Gyeongnam.

A large number of medalists from the Paris Paralympic Games will participate in this competition.

Shooter Park Jin-ho (Gangneung City Hall), who won two gold medals at the Paris Paralympic Games and was the Korean team’s MVP (MVP), won a total of six medals, including the R7 men’s 50m rifle 3-position individual event (sport grade SH1) and the R1 men’s air rifle standing individual event (sport grade SH1). Participate in the game and continue the golden gunfire of Paris.

Triathlete Kim Hwang-tae (POSCO Future M), who has no arms, will also compete once again.

The Kim Young-won Museum of Art within Gimhae Sports Complex operates a live broadcast studio for the first time in history.

Over the course of three days from the 25th to the 27th, the game will be broadcast, as well as interviews with players, coaches, and tournament officials.

The Korea Sports Association for the Disabled plans to provide visitors with the opportunity to increase their understanding and empathy for sports for the disabled through the visiting sports bus and the Dream Paralympic Games (a program to raise awareness of disabled sports experience).

The opening ceremony will be held at Gimhae Sports Complex at 5 p.m. on the 25th.

The opening ceremony, attended by Second Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Jang Mi-ran, Korea Sports Association for the Disabled Jeong Jin-wan, and South Gyeongsang Province Governor Park Wan-soo, will be broadcast live on KBS 1TV.

This year’s table tennis (11:05 a.m. on the 28th), sitting volleyball (2:10 p.m. on the 29th), and badminton (11:05 a.m. on the 30th) games will be broadcast live on KBS 1TV.
