Since a festival like before Corona is currently not possible, that offered Wind band sand with the ?? music on the Altmain ?? a successful alternative.

Children could ride a carousel

In addition, there was at least a bit of a parish fair atmosphere to be sniffed for the youngsters. Second Mayor Julian Müller had unceremoniously organized a showman who liked to come to Sand with a children’s carousel and a candy stand, of course completely corona-compliant.

Musicians from the districts of Haßberge, Würzburg, Bamberg and Forchheim

The name of the band Skarabäus, which spread a splendid atmosphere against the backdrop of the Altmain on Saturday evening, also means dung beetle, depending on the hieroglyphic spelling in ancient Egyptian. But it was by no means crap what the nine musicians from the Haßberge, Würzburg, Bamberg and Forchheim districts were uttering. Rather, the beginning of the band name derives from the music genre ?? Ska ?? ab, which originated in Jamaica in the 1950s and is interpreted by amateur musicians, among other things. Well-known songs from the last 50 years with a mixture of Ska, Punk and Rock??n??Roll presented the music group, which was only founded in 2019, in their very own way.

Loud calls for encores

The visitors liked the handmade sound of trumpets, trombone, saxophone, piano, guitars, bass and drums so much that they acknowledged the performance with loud encore calls. Even a brassiere was thrown on stage out of enthusiasm during the concert. “Now we’ve done it, we’ve always dreamed of it,” joked the band members over the praise of a female fan.

A large marquee was originally planned because the Sand Wind Band is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year.

Because of the pandemic, however, plans had to be rescheduled. “It was very sporty,” said Nadine Rippstein, the wind orchestra’s secretary, describing the preparations for the cultural event. The final approval with the corona regulations to be complied with came only a week before the event. Up to 1000 visitors are currently allowed to take part in open-air events, provided they have a permanent seat and their stay is documented. That was in the sand, and with 700 seats the organizer was even less.

How the Sander Kirchweih worked from a culinary point of view

With Sander wines, Göller beer from the neighboring town of Zeil and the well-known culinary specialties, the around 70 helpers of the association provided for the tasting. Numerous waitresses at the tables took orders using a mobile phone app and served them after a short time. This approach equalized the rush to the stalls. Long lines were never seen.
