Sunday 4 August. The day we thought we would get the first indication of the shape of Femke Bol. But we saw that last night already: the Amersfoort phenomenon helped the medley relay team with a powerful final sprint to an emotional gold in the 4×400 metres.
Anyway, the 400 meters hurdles will start at 12.35pm, the part in which Bol will likely compete for gold with American Sydney McLaughlin.
In addition to Bol, Cathelijn Peeters will also try to qualify for the hurdles semi-finals, which are scheduled for Tuesday. The final is Thursday.
Later today (9:10 pm) Niels Laros and Stefan Nillessen will also appear on the athletics track: they will run the semi-finals of the 1,500 meters.
Hunt coins in and on the water
For Dutch long distance swimmers this is the last day they can compete for medals. And that has to be done as a team. The final of the 4×100 meters awaits both men and women from 7:10 pm.
The men got fourth place for the final battle. The women made it in time, as the eighth team.
There are also chances for medals on the water, although celebrations cannot start today. Marit Bouwmeester, Annelous Lammerts, Duko Bos and the duo Bjarne Brouwer/Laila van der Meer will be in action on the sailing waters of Marseille from 12.35pm.
They will all be trying to get the best possible starting position for the medal races later in the week.
Make sure you turn off the TV from 12 noon
It is always wise to turn off your television from 12 noon. There are good competitions on the program. How about the tennis final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz? The numbers two and three in the world rankings will compete against each other for gold. There is no other way than that it will be delicious.
And from 2pm everyone can focus on the women’s road race. The men did not succeed yesterday for the Low Countriesbut with Demi Vollering, Ellen van Dijk, Lorena Wiebes and Marianne Vos, the Netherlands have some nice assets to win at least one medal after the 158 kilometer race.

But there are more opportunities for medals. Dinja van Liere and Emmelie Scholtens appear in the ring during the individual dressage freestyle competition.
Canoeists Martina Wegman and Lena Teunissen have reached the second round of the kayak cross (K1) and will try to extend their Olympic performance from 4.45pm.
3×3 basketball players and hockey players to semi-finals?
Several Dutch teams are also participating again. The Dutch hockey men were encouraged by Louis van Gaal on Saturday. The former national coach of the Dutch national team gave some tips to the men for their quarter-finals against Australia (5:30 pm).
The water polo women will play their final group game against Canada from 6:30 p.m. They have already qualified for the next round, but a win qualifies a more favored pair in the quarter-finals.
Finally, the Netherlands 3×3 basketball players will play a game against the United States at 5:30 p.m. If the Netherlands wins, it will already be in the semi-finals, otherwise an intermediate round awaits at 9:30 pm.
