The figures of the last census from INSEE have decreased, highlighting the continued decline in the population of Paris, which is now located at 2 162 598 inhabitants. A phenomenon that continues year after year and which could see the capital drop below the threshold of two million inhabitants in a few decades. Not all districts see their population evolve in the same way. What is the least populated in the capital today?
Between the 1st arrondissement and the 15th, the great gap
The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th arrondissements, now clustered in Central Paris, are the four least populated arrondissements, but also the smallest by area. Thus they bring together 100,403 inhabitants.
Of these, the 1st arrondissement has only 16,149 inhabitants, ie 716 inhabitants less than at the last census.
After central Paris, the least populated arrondissement is the 6th with 40,452 inhabitants after a sharp decline between the two censuses: – 3,654 inhabitants.
Despite the loss of 6,450 inhabitants, the 15th arrondissement is the most populated in the capital.
