“Paris, Texas.” Wim Wenders’ masterpiece returns to cinemas restored in 4K – News

40 years after the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1984, one of the most beloved films of Wim Wenders, Paris, Texasreturns to Italian theaters from November 4th restored in 4K, thanks to Cineteca di Bologna and his project Il Cinema Ritrovato, and CG Entertainment.

The restoration of the film was carried out in 2024: the original 35mm negative was scanned in 4K at L’Immagine Ritrovata in Bologna, with the financial support of the CNC; the restoration and color correction took place at Basis Berlin Postproduktion, with the support of Chanel and the German Film Heritage Funding Program (FFE).

Co-written with Sam Shepard, starring Harry Dean Stanton and Nastassja Kinski, with the legendary music of Ry Cooder, Paris, Texas is, second Emmanuel Carrère“the calmest, most restrained film Wenders ever directed.” It is certainly the work that definitively consecrated the German director among the great authors of world cinema. The last film of Wenders’ American period, it is a free, tender and desperate road movie, a tribute to the places of the western, a very human rereading of Hollywood genres.
