Paris Saint-Germain takes the lead thanks to fifth consecutive victory | NOW

Paris Saint-Germain has taken over the lead in Ligue 1 from Stade Rennes. The reigning champion won 0-4 at Nîmes Olympique on Friday evening, while Rennes lost points.

Kylian Mbappé gave PSG the lead in Nîmes after just over half an hour. The attacker was sent deep by Rafinha, cut out goalkeeper Baptiste Reynet and pushed the ball into the right corner.

At that moment, Nîmes already had ten men through a red card for Loïck Landré. The defender was sent off in the twelfth minute after hitting Rafinha with a raised leg.

Twelve minutes before the end, Alessandro Florenzi doubled the margin with a header from close range and moments later Mbappé made his second of the evening after a beautiful pass through the middle of Pablo Sarabia. The Spaniard himself determined the final score with a hard shot in the final phase.

Mitchel Bakker played the entire game at PSG, which booked its fifth league win in a row. The Parisians lead with fifteen points from seven duels. They can, however, be passed later this weekend by Lille OSC or RC Lens, who play against each other in Lille on Sunday.

Stade Rennes has the same number of points as PSG, but a slightly less goal difference. Earlier in the day, the formation from Brittany came no further than 1-1 to the last of the league Dijon and is now second.
