Paris Saint-Germain have apparently targeted Liverpool FC’s Mohamed Salah (29) as a possible successor to Lionel Messi. Like the Spanish sports newspaper AS reported PSG are said to be preparing for a looming departure for the 34-year-old, who has been linked with a transfer to Inter Miami in the MLS for months.

Salah is only contractually bound to Liverpool until 2023, and so far neither side has been able to agree on an early extension. For example, the English club is unlikely to meet the Egyptian international’s salary expectations. At PSG, on the other hand, he would be a player who would fit President Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s marketing strategy.
Inter Miami are probably already planning a lucrative offer for Messi in the summer
After AS-Inter Miami owner David Beckham could try to lure Messi into the MLS with a lucrative offer in the summer. A farewell to European football would probably only be realistic after the World Cup next winter. Messi recently said in relation to his plans: “After the World Cup I have to rethink a lot of things.”
A move could be further complicated by the fact that Mauricio Pochettino is on the brink of leaving PSG and a coach with a different style of play could help Messi regain his former strength. However, with Kylian Mbappe (21) imminent, Salah would be a helpful signing for PSG even if Messi decides to stay.
