Paris Saint-Germain: Kylian Mbappe’s new deal could include a release clause

The planned contract extension with Kylian Mbappe has been going on for months. A release clause could now bring the breakthrough for PSG.

Kylian Mbappe can apparently imagine extending his contract with Paris Saint-Germain – on condition that he can leave the club for Real Madrid. Like the Spanish one AS reported that an exit clause was already under discussion at the beginning of the corona pandemic and should still be on the table in the negotiations with Mbappe.

Two weeks ago, Mbappe announced his reluctance to extend the contract and announced an early decision. According to the report, he could now convince that PSG should apparently be ready to raise his salary to 37 million euros, which Neymar is currently earning. Mbappe currently earns 21 million euros from the French champions.

Mbappe’s release clause for Real Madrid is probably not ideal

Mbappe has also been associated with a transfer to Real Madrid for months. The Spanish record champions are in a difficult financial situation due to the corona pandemic and therefore probably do not have the money to be able to handle a Mbappe transfer in the next few months. Mbappe is apparently aware of this situation.

As the AS reported, the 22-year-old could therefore sign a new contract with PSG and wait a few years for Real Madrid to recover financially. Due to the planned release clause, Mbappe could become significantly more expensive for the Spanish club and the required transfer fee could rise to over 222 million euros.

This sum would be well above the estimated 150 million euros that Los Blancos had calculated for a transfer in the summer of 2021. Another problem could be Mbappe’s salary: Like that AS reported, Real Madrid cannot afford to beat the amount paid by PSG due to the internal salary cap.
