Nightmare cuisine at the Olympic Village. After the complaints at the start of the Games about the quality and quantity offered by the canteen for the athletes, now the bar is being raised on the accusations: the multiple British swimming champion Adam Peaty has in fact said that «worms were found in the food». The breaststroker reported this, sharing the concerns of the Olympic 800-meter champion Keely Hodgkinson, who in fact had decided not to eat in the restaurant of the Village anymore and this because the quality was really poor. Peaty, silver in the 100 breaststroke behind the Italian Nicolò Martinenghi and fourth in the 4X100 medley relay on the final evening of the swimming program, launched accusations about the food: «I like fish, but here they found worms in the fish. There is no standard that is needed to be in shape». The organizers deny that worms were found in the food, but Peaty is certainly not the first to have complained about the catering: after all, the English were the first to rely on a restaurant with a home chef set up in nearby Clichy. Peaty said that the “team was taken by surprise, the menus are not at the level that the athletes expected – he said – in Tokyo the food was super, in Rio incredible. But this time there were no protein options, long queues of 30 minutes. From Paris 2024 they urge caution on “sensational” claims. “Team GB – reports the British press – has not received reports of this type”. (ANSA).
