Paris Hilton fears it’s her fault that everyone seems to be addicted to social media these days. Hilton, who previously stated that she co-invented the selfie eleven years ago with Britney Spears, admits she feels she has created a monster.

“I feel responsible for it … When you add up all those hours, it’s literally like you spent years of your life just looking at a phone,” she says in her YouTube documentary. This Is Paris. “I see little girls of nine or ten years old trying to get the perfect selfie and using filters. They can’t even look at themselves without a filter. (…) Everyone says I’m the mother of all influencers, but sometimes I feel like I’ve helped create a monster. ”
Paris recently also announced that in recent years she has invariably acted differently from how she really is. “Before the lockdown, I was constantly traveling to different countries, surrounded by strangers. I played a character all the time so you almost forget who you really are and get lost in it. But that character is not who I am or how I want to be remembered. I am kind-hearted and smart. ”
