CelebritiesIn January, Paris Hilton (42) and her husband Carter Reum (42) welcomed a baby boy with the help of a surrogate mother. The announcement came as a big surprise, both to the outside world and to her loved ones. She confesses to ‘Harper’s Bazaar’ the legitimate reason behind this secrecy.
“It has always been my dream to be a mother and I am so happy that Carter and I have found each other,” the new mother told People at the time. “We are so excited to start our family together. Our hearts are beating for our baby boy.” No one saw this happy announcement coming. But it turns out that the DJ and hotel heiress had her reasons for that.
“My whole life has been up for grabs. Everything is public in the public eye”, she tells ‘Harper’s Bazaar.’ “I’ve never had anything to myself, so we decided we wanted this whole experience to ourselves.” Since Paris is a familiar face, she had to go even further. For example, she reveals that she disguised herself – with a dark brown wig and hoodie – when checking into the hospital for the birth. Only Paris, her husband and their surrogate mother were therefore aware of the family expansion and it had to stay that way.
Happy family happiness
The couple then brought their newborn son home, where no one else was present. They had told the staff that their house was being ‘painted’. This way they could enjoy their early family happiness together for a few days in peace. Among other things, the new parents tried to get used to his sleeping and feeding schedule and sang lullabies to him. Paris’ preference? ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’ and her own 2006 hit, ‘Stars Are Blind’.
