Paris FC dreams of a billion-dollar derby with PSG: club sold to the Arnault family and Red Bull

Paris FC’s dream of reaching PSG in the Ligue 1 becomes more and more concrete. The capital’s current second team, leaders in Ligue 2, is in fact about to be purchased by a new owner capable of projecting it towards new important goals. The president and majority shareholder Perre Ferracci is about to sell the club to the Arnault family, which owns the luxury giant LVMH, and in part to Red Bull. However, the Arnault family would invest in Paris FC on a personal basis and not through the luxury group. The Austrian group Red Bull (which owns Salzburg and one of the New York teams), for its part, could have a share of up to 15%.

President Ferracci will remain as a minority shareholder

This was reported by the French newspaper L’Equipe according to which Ferracci should initially retain 30% of the share capital of Paris Fc before completely exiting the shareholding in 2027. For several months he had intended to open the capital of the Parisian club, which currently plays in Charlety Stadium, to other investors. The negotiations were carried out by Antoine Arnault, one of the five sons of Bernard Arnault, who was also one of the protagonists of the recent partnership signed between LVMH and Formula 1.

In Paris the derby in Ligue 1 has been missing for 35 years

With 6 wins and 2 defeats, Paris FC currently leads Ligue 2 with a 2-point lead over Lorient and Union Sportive du Littoral de Dunkerque and could therefore aspire to move up to Ligue 1. A footballing revolution is therefore in sight in the capital French team that would return to have a derby in the top league after 35 years and the ephemeral experience of Matra Racing which ended with the team’s relegation to the then Ligue 2 in the 1989-90 season. Among the five largest football leagues in Europe, Paris is the only capital city where a single team plays in Serie A.
