Paris Fashion Week opens its doors with a public catwalk

PARIS.- Barely recovered from the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Paris premiered today – September 23 – the Fashion Week female with a parade exceptionally open to all on Opera Square.

After New York, London and Milan, 106 brands are taking part in Paris in 66 shows and around 40 collection presentations.

Victor Weinsanto opened the Fashion Week (Fashion Week) on the rooftop of the Pompidou Centre, with a show that starred Le Filip, a drag queen who won a well-known French television show.

Under the rain and gusts of wind, her multicoloured mesh suits and pink fishnet tops offered a glimpse of what to wear next summer.

Hours later, it was the cosmetics giant L’Oréal that welcomed thousands of fashion fans with a catwalk show in front of the Opéra Garnier in the heart of Paris, open to the public (registration required).

American star Jane Fonda looked timeless in a silver disco jumpsuit, Eva Longoria showed up in a white puffy mini dress, Kendall Jenner looked blonde in red. Also present were Paralympic athletes and dozens of influencers inclusive of the four corners of the world.

Several rising brands in the world of French fashion, such as Mossi, Atlein or Coperni, had the opportunity to shine at this show.

Democratizing fashion

“The idea is to be able to make accessible and democratize everything that the public never sees from this moment of Fashion Week: the most beautiful places, the most beautiful outfits and the best looks “beauty,” Delphine Viguier, CEO of L’Oréal Paris, told AFP.

On Tuesday, it will be the turn of the big names in luxury, with Christian Dior and Saint Laurent.

This season is marked by numerous upheavals at the major houses. With the results of luxury giants LVMH and Kering slightly down, restructuring is shaking up the designers’ desks and generating a festival of unconfirmed rumours: Hedi Slimane, Tom Ford or Jacquemus at Chanel, John Galliano about to leave Maison Margiela.
