Paris could go on “high alert” this Monday. Bars and restaurants close again – Executive Digest

The French authorities are planning to declare the country’s capital a “high alert” zone, which means the closure of bars and restaurants from this Monday, if the pandemic situation does not improve, the local media advance.

The alert was made by the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, who explained, this Thursday, that this possibility is on the table and can be confirmed if the situation continues during the coming weekend.

The French government uses three criteria to declare “high alert” in a given territory, namely the general number of infections; the number of infections in the risk groups and the number of beds available in the intensive care units (ICU).

According to the minister, Paris and its suburbs may go into “high alert” starting on Monday, if the progression of the epidemic is confirmed.

This entire area “has exceeded the three limits that may require you to declare a maximum alert zone, and it has already happened a few hours ago. We are going to review the data on Sunday, ”he said.

If this statement is confirmed, “there will be no more family celebrations or parties, and we will order the total closure of the bars”, warned Olivier Véran.
