This Monday, October 5, the president of the departmental council of Côte-d’Or reacted to the selection of several sites in the department to be preparation centers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
It is this Monday, October 5, 2020 that the organizing committee for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games unveiled the sites selected to host high-level and world athletes by 2024. In Côte-d’Or, Dijon but also Chenôve, Beaune and Semur-en-Auxois are the towns of which several sites appear in the list.
The candidacy to be “Land of Games 2024” was submitted by the Department of Côte-d’Or less than a year ago. At the same time, it was materialized by the signing of a partnership with a brand ambassador in the person of Olympic swimming champion Amaury Leveaux, on November 12, 2019. The Department was labeled on November 21, 2019.
“Today, the proposed sites have been selected. Another site could even be selected in Messigny-et-Vantoux for BMX, some technical adjustments have been requested. Outside Dijon, we could have three training sites, this is good news for the Côte-d’Or and I am very proud of it, it is recognition for the whole sports movement, for all our volunteers. That four cities are selected today is really great, ”said François Sauvadet.
The need to “bring the values of Olympism to life”
Having reaffirmed that “the Côte-d’Or is a Land of Games Paris 2024”, the President of the Departmental Council then declared: “Our Department was among the first signatories of the Terre de Jeux convention. Amaury Leveaux fulfilled his contract by intervening in colleges, by promoting an exemplary sports career. We will continue in this direction, to bring the values of Olympism to life, whether it be a popular meeting but also mobilization around the values of Olympism. Our country needs to regain confidence in itself, to rediscover the values of fraternity, generosity, commitment, work and collective movement. These values motivate us and make the Department a committed partner of Paris 2024. The relationship is confident with Tony Estanguet (president of the Paris 2024 organizing committee). I hope that the health conditions will improve and allow us to find our way back to the stadiums, that we can live as normally as possible rather quickly ”.
Before Paris 2024, there must be Tokyo in 2021, let’s hope… “All the health safety rules are currently taken by the public authorities. I also trust the teams of researchers mobilized around the world. I think we will be able to eradicate this pandemic. Now when? It’s difficult to say it today… In any case, let’s take advantage of the circumstances to recall that, if we want to get out of them, we must scrupulously respect the barrier gestures, even if the required effort is heavy ”, added François Sauvadet. .
