The Polish national wrestlers’ team has brought a lot of excitement to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris so far – Arkadiusz Kułynycz, Anhelina Łysak and Wiktoria Chołuj, among others, have already entered the action, and on August 9, Robert Baran joined this group.

Baran’s opponent was the representative of Kazakhstan, Jusup Batyrmurzayev, the Asian champion from four years ago. In the first half of the match, the score was quite even – after three minutes it was exactly 1:0 for the Krotoszyn player.
After the full time of the duel, i.e. six minutes, the scoreboard showed 4:1 for the Pole. Thus, he will soon face the better of the pair Oleksandr Chocianivski (Ukraine) – Geno Petriashvili (Georgia) in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, the loser must “traditionally” root for his conqueror, because if he reaches the final, it will open the way for the athlete who suffered a defeat to the repechage.
Meanwhile, triumph in the repechage gives a chance to reach for the bronze medal – one of two, because that is how many medals are to be awarded at the Olympic Games, which is undoubtedly one of the distinguishing features of wrestling.

On August 10, the last of the “White and Reds” will appear on the mat – Zbigniew Baranowski, who will take part in the freestyle competition up to 97 kg. This competition will be concluded on August 11, the last day of the Olympics.
