Mexico City. This afternoon, a well-known pharmacist awarded the medal winners at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Led by the triple swimming medalist Ángel Camacho, those selected received one million pesos for the gold, 500 thousand for the silver and 200 thousand for the bronze.
“I spent a lot of time complaining to God for taking away the strength in my legs. I wanted to be a Chivas soccer player and many times I dreamed of being able to walk from goal to goal and feel the ball. Today I can present myself as a Paralympic medalist, which means that life sometimes takes you down paths you never imagined,” said José Luis Castillo of powerlifting.
All the winners were present at the award ceremony, who thanked the private initiative for its support. Among them Arnulfo Castorena and Haidee Aceves from swimming; as well as Gloria Zarza and Juan Pablo Cervantes, gold winners in para athletics.
“Rest assured that the money will be used for our preparation. We are not going to look bad to those who support us and to Mexico in the next Games,” commented the experienced powerlifting Amalia Pérez.
