The organizers of the Paris 2024 Olympics said that the opening ceremony begins at 7:30 pm local time, with preparations entering the final stage.
“We chose this time to make the most of the sunlight,” Tony Estanje, head of the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee, said in a press conference, after the seventh and final coordination committee with the International Olympic Committee.
The opening ceremony of Paris 2024 will be held in a six-kilometre (3.7 mile) procession along the Seine River, and more than 300,000 people are expected to attend, on July 26, and the sun will set at 9:35 p.m. local time.
Pierre-Olivier Beckers-Veujean, head of the International Olympic Committee’s Coordination Committee, said he is confident that Paris 2024 will be able to deliver excellent games.
Beckers-Feugan added: The IOC Coordination Committee is leaving Paris, full of confidence in the French capital’s ability to excel, and we do not see any challenge that could represent an obstacle to achieving the exceptional vision that all the teams had seven years ago “when Paris obtained the right to host the 2024 Olympics.” ».
He added, referring to the arrival of the Olympic flame from Greece to Marseille in southern France exactly two months later, “The Games are approaching.”
The Paris Olympics organizing committee has already unveiled the official posters and medals, opened a new stadium in north-central Paris, and has begun construction on some temporary competition sites.
“This obviously raises questions among residents. As the Games approach, there is always a decline in support for the Olympics, but that changes after the event, and I find it exciting that all stakeholders have opened up a dialogue with local people to come up with solutions,” Bickers-Feugan said. “Paris is no different from other cities that have hosted the Games before.”
Estanje, who expressed optimism, said, “Everything is going smoothly. We are confident and excited. However, we also know that the last stage is important. We will remain focused and ambitious.”
