From November 18 to 21, 2023, 16 middle school students from Paris and Seine-Saint-Denis, accompanied by 2 teachers, went to New York to the UN headquarters. This delegation was specially invited to observe the adoption of the resolution on the Paris 2024 Olympic Truce by the UN General Assembly (in New York), held on November 21.
This trip corresponds to the last stage of the MNU (Model United Nations) project on the 2024 Olympic Truce which took place throughout 2023 and mobilized more than 600 middle school students from 30 classes in Paris and Seine- Saint-Denis, around the themes of sport and peace, gender equality, environment, education and inclusion of people with disabilities.

During the 3 days of stay in New York, the 16 students (or “The Sixteen”, the name they chose for their group) participated in different activities, cultural and sporting outings: visits to the Museums and the September 11 memorial 2001, the One World Trade Center Observatory, the MoMA, the Statue of Liberty, as well as an NBA game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Sixteen also participated in sequences associated with Paris 2024 including a Flag Tour in different sites in New York (Central Park, Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, One World Observatory, different districts of Manhattan), and the Dance of the Games (at One World Observatory and Central Park).
At the UN on November 21, young people attended the session on the adoption of the resolution of the Olympic Truce of Paris 2024. In addition to this experience, they were able to visit the UN headquarters, carry the Olympic Flame, and exchange with Thomas Bach and Tony Estanguet following the adoption of the Olympic Truce.
Paris 2024 thanks the students for representing Generation 2024 in New York to the President of the IOC, Thomas Bach.
