Harrie Lavreysen can prepare himself for the sprint final in track cycling. The Dutch sprinter convincingly defeated Jack Carlin in the semi-final. Jeffrey Hoogland had to admit defeat against Matthew Richardson and will compete for bronze on Friday evening.
Lavreysen had no trouble with Carlin. The Briton was apparently beaten easily in two times. Lavreysen can now confidently approach the final, where he will have another chance at gold. Hoogland, on the other hand, was immediately beaten by Richardson in the first heat. The second heat was more exciting, but in the end Hoogland had to bow his head there too.
In other words, the final will be ridden between Lavreysen and Richardson, a duel that we have seen more often in the sprint finals in the championships lately. The battle for the bronze medal will be between Hoogland and Carlin. Both races are on the menu on Friday evening.
