Parents Write Names on Children’s Bodies as Identification in Gaza Bombings

JERUSALEM – With the number of families killed in Israeli bombings increasing, parents are writing names on their children’s bodies to identify them. These names are written on the arms and legs of the children who were injured in the bombings and are being treated at the hospital in Rafah.

Sarah al-Khalidi, who sought refuge with her four children in a relative’s home in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, fearing mass killings in northern Gaza, was appalled by this practice. But when he reached the hospital, he saw the doctors doing the same.

Gazans say that it helps to know that these babies had a name. In the document released yesterday by the Gaza Ministry of Health recording the names of those killed, it was stated that 200 dead bodies could not be identified due to mutilation.
