Parents will be the first filter against Covid-19

Following the meeting with the Ministry of Public Education, the Secretary of Health in the state, Eliud Vázquez Aguirre, reported that the health protocols for this return to school will be preventive and the use of face masks remains a recommendation but not a requirement.

This is important to remember that on August 26, children and adolescents will return to school after almost two months of vacation.

“We have already been talking with public education authorities and the recommendations are the same: the first filter is the home, where parents would see their children and if they have symptoms, they should send them to us and go to a doctor to be evaluated,” he said.

He reiterated that the use of a mask is optional when educational institutions do not have adequate ventilation.

The second filter will be the school through the teachers who, upon observing a minor with apparent symptoms of discomfort, will be separated from the group and sent home after calling their parents.

In addition, students and teachers will be encouraged to maintain hygiene practices such as constant handwashing, disinfection of desks and thorough cleaning of classrooms.

“If they are going to hold a mass meeting to honor the flag, they should be outdoors, just like other activities,” said Aguirre.

He stressed that the number of Covid-19 infections currently being recorded in the state is not a cause for concern because it represents a decrease compared to the number of cases reported in the same period last year.

The state’s health minister stressed that the guard is not being lowered, but rather that monitoring is being maintained and that authorities will continue to do so during the return to school to observe the return of children to the classroom and closely follow any reports of illnesses in them.
