Parents throw away porn collection: tens of thousands of euros in compensation

The parents of a 43-year-old man from the US state of Michigan have to pay almost 40,000 euros for throwing away their son’s extensive porn collection. A judge ruled that they should not have done so.

David Werking moved in with his parents for some time in 2016 after a divorce. When he had found a new home, he had his abandoned possessions sent to them. Upon unpacking, he discovered that the porn collection was gone: 12 boxes full of footage and another two with sex toys.

The parents immediately admitted that they destroyed the material, finding it offensive. They called Operation sex addict and said they would have done the same if they found a large amount of drugs.

Expert sex heritage

The judge ruled that the parents should not have owned their son. He instructed the director of the Las Vegas Erotic Heritage Museum to determine the value of the collection. This expert on sex heritage came to an amount of 25,000 euros, with an additional 12,000 euros in attorney’s fees from Werking.

The court rejected Werking’s request to have his parents pay triple. Werking had requested this because he reasoned that much of the classic porn material, such as video tapes, could never be replaced due to its rarity.
