“Parents Struggle with Up to 35% Increase in Private School Bus Fees in Sharjah”

Sharjah: Parents complain that private schools in the emirate have increased bus fees by up to 35%. The increase will be effective from next school year. Parents said the annual fee has been increased by up to Dh1,000. Parents are also worried that if the bus fee is increased, the cost of uniforms, shoes and books will also increase.

The fee hike is a severe financial burden for parents who are educating multiple children. There are also schools that charge higher bus fees after enrolling children without prior notice. Officials informed that the school bus fare should be charged according to the norms of each emirate.

The permission of the Education Department is required to increase the fee. The education department also stated that the increase should be implemented after parents are informed in writing and the agreement is signed.
