The parents of student Giovanna Bezerra, aged 17, murdered during a shooting attack at a school in Sapopemba, in the east zone of São Paulo, lamented, in an interview with Fantástico, the violence committed against their daughter. “They took away a part of my life”, said father Denis Bezerra da Silva.
Giovanna’s murder took place on the 23rd, when a student from the teaching unit entered the premises armed and fired four shots. Three other people were injured, were treated and discharged the following day. The students hit by gunfire told the Rede Globo program that they live with the trauma and fear resulting from the attack.
“No one will take this love from me,” Giovanna’s mother, Mariza Carvalho da Silva, told Fantástico. Shaken, she recounted the disbelief with which she received the news that her daughter was the victim of the attack at the east side school. Mariza remembered her daughter’s childhood and the plans she had for the future.
After the attack, the perpetrator handed the weapon to the police and was apprehended. He must respond to the crime analogous to homicide. The father of the perpetrator of the attack was indicted for illegal possession of the firearm that was used in the incident. The defense said he will appeal the indictment. Regarding the attack, the defense said it will present its arguments in court.
