The police in Arnhem have received a remarkable anonymous letter. In the letter, parents write that their children were involved in an armed robbery last summer in the Gelderland capital, reports Omroep Gelderland. They say they had “a good conversation” with their sons.
The robbery took place on the evening of June 10 in a trailer park. Three masked perpetrators threatened a 59-year-old man in his home with knives. The boys made off with bags of second-hand clothing that the owners had planned to sell at the market the next day. The perpetrators fled on bicycles and dumped the loot and used knife along the way. No DNA traces were found on the objects at the time.

In the letter to the police, the writers request that an apology be conveyed to the victim. The police respond that this is certainly being done, but that is not the end of the matter. “The victim got the fright of his life. This is a serious offense and that is why we are taking the matter seriously.” The investigation into the case will therefore not stop, the police said.
On social media, the police appeal to the anonymous parents: “We call on you to report yourself to us. Your sons have committed a serious criminal offense and will also have to answer for it.”
The parents may have recognized their children after images of the three young robbers were shared in an investigative program by the regional broadcaster at the end of October.
