Parents Protest to Save Second Kindergarten Class at Infant Don Fernando School in Antequera

The parents of the school Infant Don Fernando of Antequera They have taken their protest this Wednesday to demand a second line of children to the doors of the territorial delegation of Education In Malaga. There they have held a protest to demand that the Education delegate, Miguel Briones, agree to his requests and rectify the decision to eliminate one of the two classes that this educational center had so far at this level.

During the protest they have insisted on feeling “discriminated against” with respect to other concerted educational centers in the city of Torcal which, according to their argument, with a similar number of enrollments have obtained permission to maintain their second kindergarten class.

In this sense, they regretted that the Andalusian Government applies the written rule only to public centers and does not do it in the same way with concerted centerssomething that they assure that they are suffering in their case.

In addition, they assure that the Ministry of Education with this measure leads this public school to have to work with “massified” classes that will begin this year in infants with 25 students by class and they suspect that they will be progressively implemented with the complete elimination of one of the existing educational lines.

In the same way, they have also denied being politicized or that they are being used by other political parties, assuring that “our only interest is the rights of our children.

For this reason, they have demanded that the mayor of the city, Manuel Barón, return to support the demands of the parents, something that they assured that they are not having at the moment. “We would like to have your support,” they said.

Meanwhile, from Education they already pointed out that “there are 50 vacant at this educational level in the town that allows the absorption of excess demand for school places. For this reason, the schooling guarantees commission proceeded to relocate the 11 applicants who did not obtain a place.

To this they added that “this administrative procedure has been carried out in an impecable by the members of the aforementioned commission and in accordance with the applicable regulations regarding schooling.”

For his part, the mayor of Antequera, Manuel Barón, insisted on showing his support for the parents in their demands, although he regretted that they had politicized this matter and converted the mayors of the PSOE in the standard bearers of the movement. “It cannot be that those who closed public schools and have their children in subsidized centers carry the flag,” said Barón.

In addition, he also regretted the attacks that the municipal education delegate, Sara Ríos, had received, noting that “I don’t think those are the ways.”

Barón assured that he had maintained contacts with different heads of the Junta de Andalucía to try to find a solution, both with the director of educational planning and with the territorial representative of Education.
