The parents of Liverpool striker Luis Diaz have been kidnapped.
This is reported by the Colombian newspaper Week.
At 01.40, Swedish time, the newspaper reported that the police have freed the mother but that the father is still kidnapped.
The newspaper writes that Luis Diaz’s parents, Luis Manuel Díaz and Cilenis Marulanda, were traveling in a car on their way home when gunmen on a motorcycle fired back at them in the Colombian city of Barrancas.
The individuals allegedly got into the car and kidnapped the football star’s parents.
The newspaper writes that reports of the kidnapping have been taken directly to Police Chief William Salamanca and that the investigation is in full swing.

The Colombian Prosecutor’s Office has published a statement on X.
“From the moment the prosecutor’s office learned about the kidnapping of Colombian player Luis Diaz’s parents, a special team from the agency, the military and the police has been deployed to urgently locate the people, clarify the facts and find those responsible.”
Semana reported at 01:40, Swedish time, that the mother had been freed by the police. However, the father is still captured. The newspaper refers to high-ranking sources within the operation.
Diaz has scored twice in nine Premier League appearances for Liverpool this season.
