Mutohar (47), parents of victims of a fatal accident a overpass Rocking bridgePademangan, North Jakarta, hoping for barrier gap overpass fixed. According to Mutohar, this gap often results in casualties.
“Exactly. This is not the first incident that happens. I had videos of people falling there. And it happened several times,” Mutohar said when meeting at his residence in Tanjung Priok, north Jakarta on Tuesday (29/ 11/2022).
“There are people who fall here too, I know. Almost everyone who falls dies,” he added.
Mutohar asked for a blank space on both sides overpass it was covered with concrete. He didn’t want the unfortunate incident that happened to his son to be experienced by others.
“So the big hope is that the government responds to such conditions to close the gap. The accident doesn’t want to happen. But it will happen to anyone. So to avoid accidents, please close the gap,” he hoped.
“Use whatever. If you use corcoran it’s expensive, you can use planks or plywood. So if there’s an accident it doesn’t fall to the bottom,” she explained.
Shock family
For information, the accident happened to two men. Both brothers and sisters with the initials IM (20) and IA (18). IM died after sustaining injuries to the face and head.
Mutohar explained that IM and AM would go back to their residence in Tanjung Priok. His two sons had broken the news before the accident occurred.
“From home to Pademangan. It happened when I wanted to go home, through the overpass. I had called 5 minutes earlier, his condition was good in Pademangan. So I told him to be careful on the road,” he added.
After communicating with his son, Mutohar turned off cellular data cell phone his. When it was activated she said she received many calls from family.
“I just triggered so many calls. From my whole family. Something must have gone wrong. Really, my son had an accident,” she admitted.
Mutohar was then contacted by a resident who called using his son’s cell phone. He then called an ambulance and went straight overpass swing bridge.
“So the person who called first was the one who witnessed my son fall but used my son’s cell phone. That’s when it happened. So my second son from the top jumped off. He fell spontaneously,” he said.
“I called an ambulance to evacuate my son. But after I arrived at the scene there were already 2 Jakarta City Government ambulance units on duty in the northern area. My first child was put on a stretcher. The location was that there was an oxygen tube and a drip in the new body were taken to the hospital in Koja,” he explained.
Unfortunately, IM’s life was not saved during the journey. He sustained injuries to the face and head.
“I went to the scene to see my son’s condition firsthand and immediately called the extended family to ask for prayer. And 10 minutes later there was nothing critical,” he admitted.

IM himself was an outgoing child in Mutohar’s eyes. Mutohar said those closest to him felt a loss when IM was pronounced dead.
“Evaluation of devout people always said that he (the deceased) was outgoing, sociable and always greeted and smiled easily. That is why many neighbors came to the house crying yesterday. her friend also a lot. It’s personal,” she said.
“His personality is also a bit introverted, but he doesn’t like playing with other people,” Mutohar continued.
