Parents of Cleo (4) let themselves be heard: ‘Grateful that we can hold our little girl again’ | Abroad

Cleo was abducted overnight from a tent during a camping holiday on October 16, and found Tuesday in Carnarvon, the exact Australian village where she lived with her parents. “We would especially like to thank the State Police of Western Australia, everyone who helped with the original search, the community in Carnarvon, local businesses, and of course our family and friends,” it said in a statement.

“We are humbled by the love and support we have received, not just from our own community but from all of Western Australia and the entire country,” said Cleo’s parents. The news about the mysterious disappearance of their daughter was also widely followed abroad. Cleo was already called the ‘Australian Maddie’, after the British girl who disappeared years ago during a holiday in Portugal.

Officers found the girl in a locked house, a 36-year-old man has been arrested. When the police asked her what her name was when she found the girl, she replied ‘My name is Cleo’. “We are so grateful that we can hold our little girl in our arms again, and that our family is complete again. As we try to get back on track with life, we ask that you respect our privacy.”
