Parents of 7-Year-Old Student Chase and Beat Teacher on Camera

A video of a couple physically assaulting a teacher in a Tamil Nadu school has gone viral on social media. The incident occurred at a government-aided school in Tuticorin district. The teacher, R Bharat, has been accused of allegedly beating up the couple’s child, a class two student. However, Bharat denies the allegations. In the video, the mother, Selvi, argues with the teacher, saying that it is illegal to beat a child. She threatens to beat him with her slippers. The father, Sivalingam, then chases the teacher around the school and beats him up, even throwing an object at him. Another teacher can be heard screaming for help. The couple and the child’s grandfather have been arrested, and police have booked them for assault, criminal intimidation, conspiracy, and preventing a government employee from discharging his duties.According to officials, the teacher had asked the child to change seats in class, as she was not paying attention and fighting with other children. The child fell while changing seats, and when she went back home, she complained to her grandfather that the teacher had beaten her up. A police investigation is underway.
