The parents of a 3-year-old boy, who died with a shot to the headThey have been arrested. Police said there is no evidence to support the mother’s version, according to documents obtained Thursday by The Dallas Morning News.
Jalexus Washington Jr. died Monday after he was taken to Medical City hospital in north Dallas.
The boy’s mother, 26-year-old Lacravivonne Washington, took him to the hospital at 10 am and told investigators the boy had been shot in a road rage incident, but authorities found no evidence of such an incident.
The autopsy revealed that the boy had been shot from close range, which eliminates the possibility that it was from another vehicle, documents reveal.
Lacravivonne Washington (on social media she appears as Lacravionne) and her husband Jalexus Washington Sr. were arrested Wednesday on outstanding traffic citations and taken to police headquarters.
The woman did not want to talk to the detectives, but the father decided to give his version.
Lacravivonne Washington is in the County Jail on charges of endangering a child and destroying evidence, as well as failing to use a child safety seat and speeding in Carrollton.
His bond was set at $25,000 for the main charge against him. The other charges are pending.
Jalexus Washington Sr. was arrested for illegal weapons possession and was released in the afternoon after posting $1,500 bail.
The couple’s other four children, ages 2, 4, 7 and 9, are in the custody of Child Protection Services and under the care of a relative.
