In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, educators have the highest risk of corona infection of all professional groups – even before doctors and nurses. AOK Nordost comes to this conclusion after evaluating insurance data.
Accordingly, in the period from March to December 2020, two percent of the educators insured with the AOK in MV report sick with this diagnosis, as the AOK announced on Wednesday. This value is more than twice as high as the average value of all AOK-insured employees in the northeast. This was with 839 sick leave per 100,000 insured – with the parents, however, with 2,001. According to the AOK Nordost, a total of 360,000 people are insured with health insurance in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania – around one in four.
Special educators also badly affected
Professions in curative care and special education are also significantly above the average for corona sick leave, with an average of 1,786 sick leave for 100,000 insured persons. Employees in health care and nursing have an average of 1,204 sick leave, although they are above the average, but well below the educational occupational groups. In terms of the total numbers, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is in the best position in a comparison of the federal states, the number of sick leave from the AOK is not even half the national average of 2,127.
