“Live a new life now… I hope you don’t become a burden anymore”

The parents-in-law filed for divorce against a daughter-in-law who had been caring for a son who had been in a vegetative state for 15 years.
Recently, Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that earlier this month, Mr. A and his wife, who live in Jilin Province in northeast China, filed for divorce, saying, “I want to give my daughter-in-law freedom.”
According to reports, the son of Mr. A and his wife has been in bed for 15 years in a vegetative state and has been taken care of by his wife. The couple, who felt sorry for her, filed a divorce suit against her daughter-in-law in the capacity of her son’s legal representative.
In the complaint, Mr. A and his wife said, “The daughter-in-law has devotedly cared for her son,” and “Now we are filing a divorce lawsuit to give her a new life opportunity.”
He also said, “I hope that my son’s existence will no longer be a burden to my daughter-in-law,” and added, “We will take care of our son from now on.”
Meanwhile, A’s son and daughter-in-law have a daughter, and Mr. A said that he would take care of his granddaughter along with his wife to give freedom to his daughter-in-law.
