In the Hauts-de-Seine, the parents of pupils consider themselves distraught in the face of the phenomenon of non-replaced teachers. In total, nearly 4,000 hours of lessons were lost in the Ile-de-France department, according to the FCPE. In Bagneux, 821 lost hours were counted.
In front of certain schools in Bagneux, in the Hauts-de-Seine, certain banners are unequivocal. “Stop absences”, can we read on one of them. In question, absent teachers not replaced. Since September 2022, 821 hours of lessons have been “lost” in this regard in this city alone.
In order not to fall behind on the program for the year, some parents, who confided in the microphone of CNEWS, decided to homeschool: “It’s à la carte. One day, there is a master or a mistress, one day, there is none… As a result, my daughter has fallen behind, so I make her work more at home.
But this solution is not accessible to everyone. Another mother expressed her dissatisfaction: “Frankly, it’s nonsense. If you have parents who can’t read and write, it’s complicated for children. The child, how does he study? It’s not possible.”
a deteriorating level
These absences are costly for students in Hauts-de-Seine. The latter see their level deteriorate. Also, 37% of them have an insufficient command of written comprehension.
Faced with this observation, Erwan Plouzennec, responsible for parents of pupils, denounces a lack of information on the part of the academy of Versailles “We don’t really have the elements of why on all the schools in the district of Bagneux, there is this lack of teachers. We are reaching recruitment levels that are almost absurd.”
For its part, the rectorate of Versailles ensures that new substitute positions will be created for the next school year.
