They are still trying to understand how this tragedy happened. Two and a half years later the death of their 19 month old babyafter ingesting a lethal dose of fentanyla French family recently filed a complaint against Airbnb.

As reports it The Washington Post, Les Lavenir accuses the rental platform of “negligence”, the accident having occurred during their vacation in the United States. They also filed a complaint against the owner of the accommodation and the tenant who lived there before them.

A drug 50 times more powerful than heroin

It all dates back to August 2021. The Lavenir couple and their two daughters Tamara (14 years old) and Enora (19 months) decide to stay in a house in Palm Beach, Florida. But barely started, the holidays turn to tragedy.

When the mother, Lydie, wakes up from her nap, she notices the inert body of little Enora. The baby’s face was blue and white foam was coming out of his mouth. The Lavenir family immediately calls 911, but it is already too late: Enora was already dead.

The doctors carry out an autopsy downstream and reveal, in a toxicological report, that the baby’s body contains a lethal amount of fentanyl. This drug, which has been wreaking havoc in the United States for years, is known to be 50 times more potent than heroin.

A party during which drugs had circulated

It is still impossible to know how the baby got his hands on the fentanyl. Investigators found no no trace of drugs in the Airbnbpolice directly suspected Enora’s parents – but nothing was found in their belongings and they tested negative.

One of the previous tenants, hosted by the Lavenir family in the accommodation, admitted to having organized a party during which cocaine had circulated. For the time being, no link has yet been established between this party and the ingestion of fentanyl by little Enora.
