Parents fight for a different America

Phillips and her husband travel the length and breadth of the United States, going from crime scene to crime scene to support loved ones who are going through the same thing they were going through. They are fighting for an America that finally does something about the gun problem.

Ten years later, Sandy Phillips still hears the voice in his ear, as if the phone had just rang. “There was a shooting. I was shot twice!” It was Brent, a friend of her daughter Jessica. “And where’s Jessi?” Sandy asked. But then she already knew the answer. “I tried,” Brent replied, “I’m so sorry, I tried.” Sandy let out a scream that roused her husband Lonnie from his sleep. “It sounded like an animal,” he says.
