Parents do not pay anything for the RVF – Freiburg student subscription in July either

The schools were closed due to Corona, but the subscription for the regional ticket for schoolchildren continued. That’s why parents don’t have to pay anything for two months now. The country reimburses money.

Parents get another month off for the local student travelcard. This is the result of a press release from the Regio-Verkehrsverbund Freiburg (RVF). As early as June, no monthly subscription fees were collected in the subscription model. The background is the school closings due to the corona epidemic. The country then announced that it would partially reimburse student cards. At the same time, transport companies should be supported with this. Cancellation of card subscriptions should be prevented. The RVF had asked for no money for the student subscription in June. No money should be withdrawn for July either. This happens automatically, parents don’t have to do anything.

The country had announced it would reimburse for two months. At first it was not entirely clear what exact amount and target the RVF received from the state. “Now that we know the framework here, we can, as announced, pass on further relief directly to the parents,” comments Florian Kurt, Managing Director of RVF. The country’s funds for two monthly student subscription rates are spent on the counties and cities as responsible for school traffic, who then pass the money on to the transport associations. The student subscription is a student regional ticket for children, adolescents and trainees. It applies in the city of Freiburg as well as in the counties of Emmendingen and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. The monthly tickets cost at least 15 percent less on subscription.
