Last fall, Maddy Cusack, 27, was found dead in her parents’ home.

Now accusations are being made against coach Jonathan Morgan.

“If the club hadn’t hired him, Maddy would still be alive”writes the family, which demands a new investigation.

On September 20, Football England was rocked by the news that Sheffield United vice-captain Maddy Cusack was found dead at her parents’ home in Derbyshire.

It later emerged that she had taken her own life.

The police investigation concluded that there was no suspicion of wrongdoing, and in parallel Sheffield United carried out their own investigation which concluded that the club had not acted wrongly.

Now the family is acting.

Requires new investigation

The Athletic reports that the parents – David and Deborah – have approached the FA and demanded a new investigation.

According to The Athletic, the parents are making serious allegations against trainer Jonathan Morgan, saying he called Maddy Cusack a “psychopath” and made condescending comments about her weight before her death.

“There were many factors that led to Maddy being unwell, but basically it can all be traced back to Jonathan Morgan. We are convinced that she would have been with us today if the club had not hired him. We have text messages and calls to prove this”writes the family.

Moved home

Maddy Cusack had Jonathan Morgan as a coach at Leicester City and according to her parents, he was the reason she left the club in 2019.

When Morgan took over Sheffield United in February last year, Cusack was relegated to the bench immediately and according to the parents’ version, he should have justified the decision by saying she was “overweight”.

They further state that the only reason Maddy Cusack remained at the club was because she had recently bought a house in the city and because she had made good friends in the team.

In the end, she moved home with her parents and the reason for this is said to have been that she suffered from “severe anxiety”.

Jonathan Morgan has been suspended pending investigation but resumed his post last week.

He denies all accusations, writes The Athletic.
