“We organized as best we could. We looked after our children this week, we made arrangements ”, confides this mother in front of the gate of the Jules Ferry school in Bron. The establishment, which normally accommodates 93 children, has just reopened.
For health reasons, the 4 kindergarten classes closed for 7 days. Getting back to school: it’s a relief for all parents of students. Combining work and childcare suddenly, for many, it was not easy: “Working and at the same time taking care of the little ones, even when working from home, is not easy. We are happy that the school is reopening. ” A hint of concern can nevertheless be read in the eyes of some adults, about barrier gestures. “They are small, they are less careful and that’s normal. So obviously, we are a little worried about this recovery. “

“The children are happy to find their friends”
“Girls gently! ” Pauline Murard, teacher, finds her students. It heckles, it plays and it screams a lot. “They are happy to find their friends. I don’t think they were disturbed by this cut, they didn’t even ask any questions. They haven’t lost that connection to work. ” And for good reason. With the academic inspection, the protocol was clearly defined. The priority? Educational continuity. “A digital platform has been set up so that teachers have access to virtual classroom-type tools. They can easily make videos, store and send documents, organize visios … Since the start of the school year, we have been focusing on digital technology and this notion of pedagogical continuity ”, comments Christelle Courtial, Inspector of National Education, for the 1st degree, in Bron. Here, the closing of classes has been anticipated.

“We hope that will not happen again”
Recess time has come. After yet another hand disinfection, the students take the path to the courtyard, separated by class during the break, “To avoid mixing”. “We are resuming on a good basis, hoping that it does not happen again”, moved Pauline Murard, watching the children having fun. And at the sight of the smiles of the youngest who rush down the toboggan or play wolf in the yard, we can tell that they too have missed school.
