Parents and teachers are concerned about implementing a “knowledge gap” in middle school, and they are making it known.
It is a reform of the college that does not leave a single person incapable. In fact, the “shock of knowledge” is moving teachers and parents in Balma, not hesitating to show their hostility to the system that would promote “social classification”. That is why, represented by Jean-François Robic and Clara Nicolas, the federations FCPE and UNAAPE have chosen to contact the parents of students gathered in the auditorium. For their part, teachers from Balman college expressed their fears at a demonstration organized a few meters from their center.
“The main step of this reform, which includes the creation of flat groups, is a problem,” warns Jean-François Robic. According to a teacher at Balmanese college, “One of the main problems that it stigmatizes the students.” And the FCPE regrets that “the grade groups have no special effect on the best students and are terrible for the worst ones”. -work remains a worrying equation. “New positions will not be created because the reform is planned in sustainable ways. Therefore, to ensure the existence of these level groups, there is a risk of falling courses another by the side of the road,” warns the professor. A concern shared by Jean-François Robic, who says: “There is already a lack of adults to support special students in institutions, for example those with disabilities”.
In addition, the FCPE regrets that the students in the ULIS class system (Local Unit for Educational Inclusion) are “forgotten by the reform”.
Criteria that also relate to the impossibility of being a lead teacher for maths and French teachers, both subjects in grade groups, or even how class projects go out of these subjects . “Instead of this umpteenth reform, we want a reduction in class sizes, and additional ways so that each student can progress at their own pace and succeed in a calm and balanced environment,” the FCPE link.
